Spidercam

Spidercam is a trademarked cable-suspended camera system that allows for dynamic camera movement in three-dimensional space, typically within large indoor arenas, stadiums, or outdoor event venues. It provides unique and dynamic perspectives for television broadcasts and live event coverage.

The system typically consists of four motorized winches positioned at the corners or strategic points of the venue's structure. These winches control the length of four high-strength cables attached to a camera dolly, also known as a gyro-stabilized camera platform. By precisely adjusting the length of each cable, the camera dolly can be moved smoothly and accurately throughout the designated performance area.

A dedicated operator controls the Spidercam system, using sophisticated software to manage the cable lengths and camera movements. The operator can pre-program camera paths and movements, as well as make real-time adjustments during live events. This allows for complex and visually engaging shots that would be impossible to achieve with traditional camera setups.
