Uhligites

Uhligites is a genus of extinct ammonoid cephalopods belonging to the order Ammonitida. These marine animals existed during the Late Jurassic period.

Uhligites are characterized by their involute, discoidal shells. The shell surface often exhibits ornamentation consisting of ribs or striations. The suture lines (the visible lines where the internal chambers of the shell meet the outer wall) are typically complex and ceratitic, meaning they possess numerous serrated lobes and saddles.

Fossils of Uhligites have been found in various locations around the world, providing valuable insights into the paleobiogeography and biostratigraphy of the Jurassic period. Their presence and characteristics are often used in geological dating and correlation of rock strata.
