La Voz (Mexican TV series)

La Voz... México is a Mexican reality talent show based on the international format The Voice. The show seeks to discover new singing talent, contested by aspiring singers drawn from public auditions. The winners are determined by television viewers voting by telephone, internet, SMS text, and app voting. The show employs a panel of four coaches who critique the artists' performances and guide their teams of selected artists through the remainder of the season. They also compete to ensure that their act wins the competition, thus making them the winning coach.

Format:

The show's format features four phases: blind auditions, battle phase, knockouts, and live performance shows.

  • Blind Auditions: The coaches sit with their backs to the performers during the initial auditions. If a coach likes what they hear, they press their "I WANT YOU" button, turning their chair around to face the artist. If more than one coach presses their button, the artist chooses which coach's team they want to join.

  • Battle Phase: Each coach pairs two of their team members to perform a duet together. The coach then chooses one of the two to advance to the next round.

  • Knockouts: Team members once again perform individually but are now given the opportunity to select their own songs. They are paired within their team, and the coach chooses one to advance to the Live Performance Shows.

  • Live Performance Shows: The remaining contestants perform live, and the public votes for their favorites. The coach also has a say in who stays and who goes in the initial stages. As the competition progresses, public vote becomes the sole deciding factor.

Coaches:

The coaching panel has changed over the seasons. Past and present coaches have included prominent figures in the Mexican music industry.

Production:

La Voz... México is produced by Televisa.

Reception:
