Andreas Eriksson (visual artist)
Andreas Eriksson (born 1975 in Björsäter, Sweden) is a Swedish visual artist primarily known for his paintings, drawings, sculptures, and installations that explore themes of landscape, memory, and perception. His work often blends abstraction and representation, capturing a sense of atmospheric and emotional resonance.
Eriksson studied at the Royal University College of Fine Arts in Stockholm from 1995 to 2000. He gained international recognition in the early 2000s and has since exhibited extensively in Europe and internationally, including solo exhibitions at significant institutions such as the Bonniers Konsthall in Stockholm, the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, and the Camden Arts Centre in London.
His artistic process frequently involves direct engagement with the natural world, drawing inspiration from the Swedish landscape, particularly the forests and fields surrounding his rural studio. He translates these observations into artworks that evoke the subjective experience of being in and perceiving the environment. The resulting works are characterized by nuanced color palettes, subtle textures, and an ambiguous sense of space, prompting viewers to contemplate the interplay between the internal and external world.
Eriksson's practice also encompasses sculpture and installation, which often incorporate natural materials and elements, further emphasizing his connection to the environment. His works are included in numerous public and private collections.
