What's Your Name (album)
What's Your Name is the debut album by the American hard rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd, released in 1977 under the MCA Records label. It was the band's first album to be released after the death of three members in a plane crash on October 20, 1977, that included lead singer Ronnie Van Zant and guitarist Steve Gaines. The album was recorded before the crash and features the surviving members of the band. Its title track "What's Your Name" became one of the band's most successful singles, reaching number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album itself peaked at number 19 on the Billboard 200 chart and has been certified platinum by the RIAA. It is considered by many to be a transitional album for Lynyrd Skynyrd, marking a shift in sound following the tragic loss of key band members. The album showcases a blend of the band's signature Southern rock sound with a slightly more commercial approach, reflecting the changing musical landscape of the late 1970s.
