VDL Bova
VDL Bova was a Dutch bus and coach manufacturer. It originated as a bodywork builder under the name Bova in 1931, founded by Jacob Boddewes. Bova became known for its distinctive Futura range of coaches, characterized by their streamlined design and high levels of passenger comfort.
The company developed from building bodies on chassis supplied by other manufacturers to producing complete integrated buses and coaches. Their product range expanded to include city buses and intercity buses, in addition to their popular touring coaches.
In 2003, Bova became part of the VDL Groep, a large Dutch industrial conglomerate. Following the acquisition, the Bova brand was gradually phased out, with its products eventually being marketed under the VDL Bus & Coach name. The Futura line, however, continued as the VDL Futura.
The Bova brand is still recognized today as a symbol of innovative design and quality in the bus and coach industry. Though no longer an independent entity, its legacy continues to influence the design and engineering of VDL Bus & Coach vehicles.
