Baby Boy (Beyoncé song)

"Baby Boy" is a song recorded by American singer Beyoncé, featuring Jamaican dancehall artist Sean Paul, for Beyoncé's debut solo studio album, Dangerously in Love (2003). It was released as the second single from the album on August 3, 2003. Musically, "Baby Boy" is a R&B and dancehall song with elements of reggae, hip hop and Arabic music.

The song's lyrics detail a romantic infatuation and desire. Beyoncé and Sean Paul trade verses, expressing their mutual attraction and yearning for each other.

"Baby Boy" was a commercial success, topping the Billboard Hot 100 chart for nine consecutive weeks, becoming Beyoncé's longest-running number-one single as a solo artist until "Irreplaceable" in 2006. It also reached the top ten in several other countries worldwide.

The song generated some controversy due to similarities between the instrumental and that of "Hot Hot" by production duo Black Ice. This led to a lawsuit, which was eventually settled out of court.

Despite the controversy, "Baby Boy" remains one of Beyoncé's signature songs and a defining hit of the early 2000s. It has been certified multi-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
