Snip (TV series)

Snip was an American sitcom created by April Kelly that aired on NBC for only one episode in 1976. The series starred David Brenner as Stanley Kipnis, a male hairdresser, and Lesley Ann Warren as Nancy Bancroft, a female hairdresser, who inherited a hair salon together. The premise revolved around the comedic conflicts arising from their differing personalities and business approaches, as well as the dynamic between their eccentric employees and clientele.

The show faced immediate controversy due to its inclusion of a recurring character, Brooke Shields as Stanley's niece, who wore braces and was implied to be losing her virginity. This storyline, deemed inappropriate by NBC affiliates, led to significant pushback and ultimately contributed to the show's cancellation after the pilot episode aired on September 30, 1976. The remaining episodes were never broadcast. Snip is considered a notorious failure and an example of a show derailed by controversial content and network anxieties.
