Mikhran

Mikhran (also spelled Mihran or Mehrān) was one of the seven great houses of the Sasanian Empire in Persia. The house was of Parthian origin, claiming descent from the Arsacid dynasty. The Mikhran family held significant power and influence within the Sasanian court and military, often holding high offices such as commander-in-chief (Spahbed). They played a crucial role in Sasanian politics and military campaigns throughout the empire's history. Notable members included Bahram Chobin, a renowned general who briefly usurped the throne. After the fall of the Sasanian Empire to the Arab Rashidun Caliphate in the 7th century, the Mikhran family continued to exist, some members converting to Islam and retaining their status, while others migrated to Byzantine territory.
