Sid Watson (footballer, born 1927)

Sid Watson (born January 26, 1927, in Ashington, Northumberland, died December 24, 1987) was an English professional footballer who played as a left winger. He is best known for his time with Newcastle United.

Watson began his career with Blyth Spartans before joining Newcastle United in 1949. He was a member of the Newcastle United team that won the FA Cup in 1951, 1952, and 1955, playing in all three finals. His skillful wing play and crossing ability were key contributions to the team's success during this period. He was known for his pace and dribbling skills.

After leaving Newcastle United in 1957, Watson played for Middlesbrough before retiring from professional football. He made a total of 231 appearances for Newcastle United, scoring 33 goals.

Following his retirement, Watson remained in the North East and was involved in local football. He passed away in 1987.
