Historically, Unezhma has been a fishing village, with the primary occupation of its inhabitants being related to the sea and its resources. Due to its remote location, Unezhma retains a traditional character, with wooden houses and a slower pace of life. The population is relatively small and has fluctuated over time, influenced by factors such as fishing yields and out-migration to larger settlements.
