Oasis (band)

Oasis was an English rock band formed in Manchester in 1991. The band consisted of brothers Liam Gallagher (lead vocals, tambourine) and Noel Gallagher (lead guitarist, songwriter), along with Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs (rhythm guitar), Paul McGuigan (bass guitar), and Tony McCarroll (drums). McCarroll was later replaced by Alan White. Andy Bell joined the band in 1999 as the bassist following McGuigan's departure.

The band achieved worldwide fame in the 1990s with their Britpop sound, characterized by catchy melodies, anthemic choruses, and Noel Gallagher's distinctive songwriting. Their debut album, Definitely Maybe (1994), was a critical and commercial success, establishing them as one of the leading bands of the Britpop scene. Subsequent albums, including (What's the Story) Morning Glory? (1995), Be Here Now (1997), Standing on the Shoulder of Giants (2000), Heathen Chemistry (2002), Don't Believe the Truth (2005), Dig Out Your Soul (2008), solidified their place in popular culture.

The band's success was often overshadowed by the highly publicized fractious relationship between the Gallagher brothers, culminating in several on-stage arguments and Noel Gallagher's eventual departure from the band in 2009, effectively ending Oasis. The band's legacy remains significant within the landscape of British rock music. Their albums have sold millions of copies worldwide, and their songs continue to be played on radio and in popular culture. Despite their acrimonious split, Oasis remains one of the most successful and influential British bands of all time.
