Phemiades

Phemiades, son of Melas, was a priest of Apollo in Delphi mentioned in Greek mythology. He is primarily known for his involvement in the story of Erytheia. According to Pausanias, Erytheia, a local woman of Delphi, claimed to be pregnant by Apollo. Phemiades, recognizing her piety and sincerity, believed her and took care of Erytheia. When Erytheia gave birth to a son, Akeus, Phemiades raised him. Akeus later became the founder of the city of Akeas. Phemiades' actions highlight his position as a respected religious figure and his role in the community, specifically in connection with the temple of Apollo and the interpretation of divine involvement in human affairs.
