Shanghai Rose (film)
Shanghai Rose is a 1958 American crime drama film directed by William Beaudine. The film stars Ruth Terry, Lon Chaney Jr., and Marie Windsor. The plot revolves around a former entertainer, Rose, who returns to her old nightclub in Shanghai after World War II only to become embroiled in a murder investigation. The film is known for its low budget and straightforward, somewhat gritty, portrayal of the post-war criminal underworld. Despite its title and setting, much of the film was shot in Hollywood studios, contributing to a somewhat artificial atmosphere. The film is considered a B-movie, typical of the era.
