Satariel (band)
Satariel was a Norwegian black metal band formed in 1993. They are known for their symphonic and melodic approach to black metal, incorporating elements of classical music and progressive rock into their sound.
Satariel's lineup throughout their history consisted primarily of founding members Håkon Nikodemussen (vocals, guitar, bass, keyboards) and Ole Jørgen Moe (drums). Their music often explored themes of darkness, mythology, and anti-Christian sentiment, common within the black metal genre, but distinguished itself through its orchestration and more accessible melodies compared to many of their contemporaries.
The band released several albums, including Fornication Supreme (1996), Megiddo (1997), Now, Diabolical (2006) and Hydra (2018). They toured sporadically but were more prolific in the studio. Satariel's influence can be heard in the work of other symphonic black metal bands, and they remain a respected name within the Norwegian metal scene. The band is currently inactive.
