Sah (god)

Sah is an ancient Egyptian deity. He is a deification of the constellation Orion, and more broadly, a god of the dead and rebirth. Sah was believed to dwell in the Orion constellation and was viewed as the father of the god Sopdet (the star Sirius). In the Pyramid Texts, Sah is mentioned as being both menacing and benevolent, possessing the power to both devour and protect souls in the afterlife. He is often depicted as a man with a was-scepter, wearing the atef crown, and sometimes shown in the form of a falcon or lion. He was often associated with Osiris, sometimes even considered a manifestation of him. The union of Sah and Sopdet was seen as a symbol of fertility and the annual inundation of the Nile, bringing life and abundance to Egypt. His cult center was located in Lower Egypt.
