Rainbow Brite (1984 TV series)

Rainbow Brite, also known as Rainbow Brite and the Star Stealers for its theatrical movie adaptation, is an animated children's television series that aired from 1984 to 1986. Produced by DIC Enterprises and Hallmark Cards, the series follows the adventures of Rainbow Brite, a young girl who brings color and happiness to the colorless land of Colorland.

Rainbow Brite, originally named Wisp, arrives in Colorland with a mission to bring color to the world, which has been drained of vibrancy by the shadowy forces of Murky Dismal and his bumbling sidekick, Lurky. Assisted by her talking horse Starlite and the seven Color Kids – Red Butler, Orange Blossom, Canary Yellow, Patty O'Green, Indigo, Blue, and Violet – Rainbow Brite uses Star Sprinkles and Color Crystals to paint Colorland with a full spectrum of hues.

Each Color Kid is responsible for a specific color and oversees the sprites of their respective color. These sprites mine Color Crystals from the Color Caves. The series emphasizes themes of friendship, teamwork, and the importance of embracing positivity in the face of negativity.

Murky Dismal and Lurky frequently attempt to thwart Rainbow Brite's efforts, using various schemes and contraptions to steal color and plunge Colorland back into gloom. Despite their efforts, Rainbow Brite and her friends consistently prevail, ensuring that Colorland remains a vibrant and cheerful place.

The series spawned a line of merchandise, including dolls, clothing, and books, which were highly popular during the 1980s. The franchise experienced revivals in later years with reboots and updated versions, though the original 1984 series remains a nostalgic favorite for many.
