James Mitchell (Canadian politician)

James Mitchell (born August 12, 1876, in Horncastle, Lincolnshire, England; died July 12, 1951, in Ottawa, Ontario) was a Canadian politician. He served as a Member of Parliament (MP) for the riding of London, Ontario, from 1921 to 1925 as a Liberal.

Mitchell immigrated to Canada in 1903 and settled in London, Ontario, where he worked as a barrister and solicitor. He was active in local Liberal politics before seeking federal office.

During his time in Parliament, Mitchell was a backbencher and participated in debates on various issues, including trade, immigration, and transportation. He was known for his moderate stance on political issues and his advocacy for the interests of his constituents in London.

Mitchell was defeated in the 1925 federal election. After leaving Parliament, he continued to practice law in London. He also remained active in community affairs. He later moved to Ottawa, where he lived until his death.
