SM UC-79
SM UC-79 was a German Type UC II minelaying submarine (U-boat) of the Imperial German Navy during World War I. She was commissioned on August 17, 1916. UC-79 conducted several mine-laying operations in the English Channel and off the coast of France. She sank or damaged numerous Allied vessels. UC-79 was sunk on April 5, 1917, after striking a mine laid by the French submarine Rubis off the coast of Fécamp, France. There were no survivors.
