CNR Group

The CNR Group (China Northern Railway Group Corporation; 中国北方机车车辆集团公司) was one of the two major state-owned railway vehicle manufacturers in the People's Republic of China, the other being CSR Group. It was responsible for designing and manufacturing locomotives, passenger cars, freight wagons, and urban rail transit vehicles. CNR Group was headquartered in Beijing.

The company's origins trace back to the establishment of railway vehicle factories in China during the early to mid-20th century. Over time, these factories were consolidated and restructured into a large corporation. CNR Group focused on technological innovation, international cooperation, and expanding its presence in both domestic and international markets. It competed directly with CSR Group in various projects, both within China and abroad.

In 2015, CNR Group merged with its rival, CSR Group, to form CRRC Corporation Limited (China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation). This merger created the world's largest rolling stock manufacturer. Therefore, the CNR Group no longer exists as an independent entity. Its assets, technologies, and personnel were absorbed into the new, larger corporation, CRRC.
