Orgy (band)

Orgy is an American industrial rock band formed in 1994 in Los Angeles, California. They are best known for their cover of the New Order song "Blue Monday" and their album Candyass.

The original lineup consisted of Jay Gordon (vocals), Amir Derakh (guitar), Ryan Shuck (guitar), Paige Haley (bass), and Bobby Hewitt (drums). The band's sound is characterized by its blend of industrial rock, electronic music, and alternative rock influences. They were often associated with the nu-metal movement, although their sound was distinct from many bands in that genre.

Orgy signed with Reprise Records and released their debut album, Candyass, in 1998. The album was a commercial success, reaching platinum status, largely due to the popularity of "Blue Monday." Other singles from the album included "Stitches" and "Dissention."

Following the success of Candyass, Orgy released Vapor Transmission in 2000. While it still contained elements of their signature sound, the album saw the band experiment with more electronic and pop influences. Vapor Transmission was not as commercially successful as their debut.

After a period of inactivity and lineup changes, Orgy returned with a new lineup and the album Punk Statik Paranoia in 2004, released independently. This album saw a shift towards a more electronic and less guitar-driven sound.

Since then, Orgy has continued to tour and perform, with various lineup changes. Jay Gordon remains the only consistent member of the band. They have released singles and EPs in recent years. The band's discography includes studio albums, singles, and EPs. Orgy's musical style has evolved throughout their career, but they are primarily recognized for their industrial rock sound with electronic elements.
