Störmer (crater)

Störmer is a lunar impact crater that is located on the far side of the Moon. It lies to the north of the larger crater Wiener, and southeast of the crater Numerov.

The crater is roughly circular, with a well-defined rim that has undergone some erosion. A few small craterlets lie along the rim edge, and the inner walls display some minor terracing. The interior floor is relatively level and marked by a few tiny craterlets.

Störmer is named after Carl Størmer, a Norwegian mathematician and physicist. It was officially named by the International Astronomical Union (IAU).

Because of its location on the far side, Störmer cannot be viewed directly from Earth and is only visible from spacecraft.
