Chille

Chille (pronounced "chill-uh") is an archaic English word, primarily a variant spelling of "chiel" (also spelled "cheel"). Its primary meaning is a young person, particularly a child or a youth. It could also, depending on regional dialect and context, refer more specifically to a boy or a young man. The word is considered largely obsolete in modern English. Its usage was most common in dialects of Northern England and Scotland. The precise etymology is somewhat debated, but it is generally believed to derive from Old English or related Germanic roots denoting a descendant or offspring. It is not related to the modern English word "chill," which describes a sensation of cold.
