S.O.B. (band)
S.O.B. was a Japanese hardcore punk band formed in the early 1980s in Osaka. The band's name is an acronym for "Sabotage Organized Barbarian." They are considered a pioneering act in the Japcore scene and are known for their incredibly fast and aggressive sound, often associated with grindcore due to their blast beats and short song structures.
S.O.B.'s lineup went through several changes over the years, but the core members included vocalist Yoshiya "Ritchey" Risa, guitarist Tottsuan, bassist Shigeru, and drummer Yasuo. Their music typically addresses themes of anti-establishment sentiment, social commentary, and personal frustration.
The band released a number of influential albums and EPs, contributing significantly to the global hardcore punk and grindcore scenes. Their live performances were characterized by intense energy and chaotic stage presence.
S.O.B. disbanded for a period, but later reformed with different lineups. Their legacy continues to inspire many extreme metal and hardcore punk bands worldwide. The band's influence can be heard in the aggressive and fast-paced music of many subsequent artists.
