Müglitz (river)

The Müglitz is a river located in Saxony, Germany. It is a left tributary of the Elbe. The river originates in the Eastern Ore Mountains, near Altenberg, and flows generally northwest through the Müglitztal valley. Towns along its course include Altenberg, Glashütte, and Müglitztal, before it empties into the Elbe River near Heidenau. The Müglitz is approximately 54 kilometers (34 miles) long. The Müglitz valley is known for its scenic beauty and has been subject to periodic flooding. The Müglitztalbahn, a railway line, follows the river's course, connecting Heidenau with Altenberg.
