Route 179 (Pennsylvania–New Jersey)

Route 179 is a state highway that runs for approximately 2.5 miles (4.0 km) from Route 29 in Lambertville, Hunterdon County, New Jersey, to the Calhoun Street Bridge over the Delaware River into Morrisville, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, where it becomes Pennsylvania Route 32. It is a short but significant route connecting these two states. The majority of the route lies within New Jersey.

The route primarily serves as a connector between Lambertville, NJ, and Morrisville, PA, facilitating local traffic and providing access to businesses and residences in both towns. It carries a mix of local and regional traffic.

While the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) maintains the portion of the road in New Jersey, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) maintains its brief continuation as Route 32 in Pennsylvania. The Calhoun Street Bridge, a toll bridge operated by the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission, forms the connection point between the two states and is a notable structure on the route.

Historically, Route 179 has played a role in the commerce and transportation between these two communities. It continues to be an important local artery for commuters and visitors. Changes to the route have been minimal over the years, mostly involving maintenance and minor improvements to accommodate increasing traffic volume.
