Robert White (composer)
Robert White (born 1936, died 1994) was an American composer and music educator. He is best known for his choral works, often incorporating American folk melodies and spirituals. He held teaching positions at several universities, including Oberlin Conservatory and the University of Iowa. His compositions include numerous anthems, motets, and larger-scale choral pieces, as well as works for orchestra and chamber ensembles. While his compositions are not widely performed today, they remain a significant contribution to American choral music in the late 20th century. Notable works include "The Lamb," "Five Madrigals," and arrangements of traditional American songs.
