Robert Post (law professor)

Robert Post is a legal scholar and the Sterling Professor of Law at Yale Law School. He is known for his work in constitutional law, particularly in the areas of freedom of speech, equal protection, and legal theory.

Post's scholarship often explores the relationship between law and social norms, particularly how legal doctrines reflect and shape societal values. He has written extensively on the First Amendment, examining issues such as hate speech, pornography, and commercial speech. Post received his J.D. from Harvard Law School and his Ph.D. in History of American Civilization from Harvard University. Before joining Yale Law School, he taught at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law. He has also served as Dean of Yale Law School.
