Risqué (group)

Risqué was an American female R&B vocal trio from Los Angeles, California. They were best known for their 1979 hit single "Sexual Healing," which was released two years before Marvin Gaye's more famous song of the same name.

The group consisted of three members: Denise Richarson, Wanda Timmons, and Sheila Wilkerson. They were signed to Uno Melodic Records, a small independent label.

"Sexual Healing," while a minor hit for Risqué, reaching number 60 on the Billboard R&B chart, is often confused with Gaye's later release. The song, written by Leonard Caston and Stephanie Spruill, featured a disco-influenced R&B sound.

Risqué released a self-titled album in 1979. While the album did not produce any other major hits, it further showcased the group's vocal harmonies and dance-oriented style.

After their initial success, Risqué faded from the spotlight. There is limited information available regarding the group's activities after the early 1980s, and they are generally considered a one-hit wonder. Their contribution to the R&B and disco scene, however, is remembered, particularly due to the notoriety of their song "Sexual Healing."
