Richmond Virginians (American Association)
The Richmond Virginians were a Minor League Baseball team based in Richmond, Virginia. They played in the American Association on two separate occasions: first from 1902 to 1903, and again in 1914. The team's history, particularly during their American Association years, is somewhat sparsely documented. Information regarding their performance, managers, and notable players is limited compared to some other minor league teams of the era. Baseball research resources often focus more heavily on teams with longer histories or those associated with Major League Baseball affiliations. The Virginians' presence in the American Association represents an early chapter in Richmond's long and varied history of minor league baseball. Following the 1903 season, the first iteration of the team ceased operations in the American Association. The 1914 team also did not continue in the American Association after that year.
