Richard Bernstein (journalist)
Richard Bernstein (born 1944) is an American journalist, author, and former foreign correspondent for The New York Times.
Bernstein worked for Time magazine for many years before joining The New York Times in 1986. At The New York Times, he served as bureau chief in Beijing and Paris, and reported from numerous locations around the world, including Eastern Europe, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. His areas of expertise include China, France, and culture.
He is the author of several books, including From the Center of the Earth: The Search for the Truth About China, Dictatorship of Virtue: Multiculturalism and the Battle for America's Future, Ultimate Journey: Retracing the Path of an Ancient Buddhist Monk Who Crossed Asia in Search of Enlightenment, and China 1945: Mao’s Revolution and America’s Forgotten Mission.
