Ralph Johnson (musician)
Ralph Johnson is an American drummer, percussionist, singer, songwriter, and producer, best known as a founding member of the iconic funk and soul band, Earth, Wind & Fire.
Johnson was born in Los Angeles, California. He joined the band in 1972, replacing previous drummer Prarie Prince. His steady drumming and percussive contributions were integral to the band's signature sound, helping to create a complex and dynamic rhythmic foundation for their music.
Beyond his instrumental work, Johnson also contributed vocally to Earth, Wind & Fire's recordings, often singing background harmonies and sometimes lead vocals. He is credited as a songwriter on numerous Earth, Wind & Fire hits.
