Radøy (island)
Radøy is an island located in Vestland county, Norway. It is part of the traditional district of Nordhordland. The island was formerly the main part of the municipality of Radøy, which was merged into the larger Alver Municipality on January 1, 2020.
Radøy lies north of the island of Holsnøy and west of the mainland. The island is connected to the mainland by the Hagelsund Bridge and to Holsnøy by the Krossnessundet Bridge. The island is characterized by a rugged coastline with numerous inlets and bays, and a hilly interior. The highest point on the island is the 265-metre (869 ft) high mountain, Mangerfjellet.
Historically, Radøy was primarily an agricultural and fishing community. In recent years, the island has seen increased residential development due to its proximity to Bergen and other urban areas. The island also has some light industry. Key settlements on the island include Manger, Sæbøvågen, and Hjelmås.
