RNLB Lloyds II (ON 986)

The RNLB Lloyds II (ON 986) was a Watson-class lifeboat operated by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI). Commissioned in 1980, it served at Kirkwall Lifeboat Station in Orkney, Scotland, until its withdrawal from service in 2001. The "ON" number refers to the Official Number assigned to the vessel by the RNLI for identification purposes. The Lloyds II was named in recognition of a significant donation from Lloyds Bank towards its construction and maintenance. Watson-class lifeboats were known for their robust construction and ability to operate in challenging sea conditions, making them well-suited for the demanding waters around Orkney. During its operational life, the Lloyds II participated in numerous rescues, saving lives and providing assistance to vessels in distress. After its retirement, the lifeboat was sold and its current whereabouts are not publicly documented in readily accessible RNLI historical records.
