Division 4 (Swedish football)
Division 4 is the sixth tier in the Swedish football league system and the fourth tier among district league divisions. It is positioned below Division 3 and above Division 5.
The administration of Division 4 is decentralized and managed by the district football associations (Distriktsförbund) of the Swedish Football Association (Svenska Fotbollförbundet, SvFF). Each district association is responsible for organizing its own Division 4 leagues, creating different series (groups) within their region depending on the number of participating teams and geographical considerations. Consequently, the structure and number of teams in each Division 4 series vary considerably across the country.
Typically, the winners of each Division 4 series are promoted to Division 3. The number of promoted teams can depend on regulations set by the respective district association. Similarly, the bottom teams in each series are relegated to Division 5, with the number of relegated teams also determined by the local regulations of each district association.
Due to the district-level organization, there is no national Division 4 table or overall league champion. Promotion and relegation between Division 4 and the higher and lower divisions are governed by the rules established by each individual district football association. The teams participating in Division 4 are primarily amateur or semi-professional clubs, often with strong local ties to their communities.
