Joseph Williams (musician)

Joseph Williams (born December 1, 1957) is an American singer, songwriter, and composer, best known for being the lead vocalist of the rock band Toto from 1986 to 1988 and again from 2010 to 2019.

Williams is the son of film composer John Williams and actress Barbara Ruick. His career began in the 1970s as a session vocalist, and he released his self-titled debut solo album in 1982. In 1986, he replaced Fergie Frederiksen as the lead singer of Toto. He sang on the band's album Fahrenheit (1986) and The Seventh One (1988), and toured extensively with them.

After leaving Toto in 1988, Williams continued his career as a session vocalist, composer, and songwriter. He has contributed vocals to numerous film scores, TV shows, and commercials. He also released several solo albums, including I Am Alive (1996), Vertigo (2003), and This Fall (2008).

In 2010, Williams rejoined Toto, replacing Bobby Kimball. He remained with the band until their hiatus in 2019. During this time, he contributed to the albums Falling in Between Live (2007), Toto XIV (2015) and Old Is New (2018).

Beyond his work with Toto and his solo career, Williams is also a prolific session singer, and has worked extensively in film and television composing, particularly for animated projects.
