Jim Willis (1950s pitcher)
James Edward "Jim" Willis (born February 2, 1931, died January 23, 1994) was a professional baseball pitcher who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Chicago Cubs in 1953 and 1955. He primarily served as a relief pitcher.
Willis was signed by the Cubs as an amateur free agent prior to the 1951 season. He made his major league debut on April 24, 1953, and appeared in 14 games that season, posting a 0-1 record with a 6.57 ERA. After spending 1954 in the minor leagues, Willis returned to the Cubs in 1955, pitching in 17 games and recording a 1-2 record with a 5.25 ERA. He pitched his final major league game on September 14, 1955.
In his MLB career, Willis appeared in 31 games, totaling 48 innings pitched. He had a career record of 1-3 with a 5.72 ERA. Following his major league career, he continued to play in the minor leagues.
