Bogle (dancer)

The Bogle was a popular Jamaican dance move and, by extension, the nickname of Gerald Levy, the dancer who popularized it. The dance involves rhythmic stepping motions and arm movements, often described as a combination of shuffling and swinging. It became a cultural phenomenon in Jamaica during the 1990s and subsequently spread internationally through reggae and dancehall music and videos.

Gerald Levy, known as Bogle, Mr. Bogle, or Father Bogle, was a highly influential figure in dancehall culture. He was renowned for his innovative and energetic dance moves, which inspired countless other dancers and contributed significantly to the evolution of the dancehall scene. He created numerous other popular dances beyond the initial "Bogle," influencing fashion and style trends within the genre.

Bogle's life and career were cut short when he was murdered in 2005. Despite his death, his legacy continues to live on in dancehall culture, and his dances are still performed and referenced today. He is remembered as a pioneer who helped to shape the look and feel of modern dancehall.
