Kesäranta

Kesäranta (literally "Summer Shore" in Finnish) is the official residence of the Prime Minister of Finland. Located in Helsinki, it serves as the Prime Minister's official workplace and reception venue, as well as occasionally providing accommodation.

Kesäranta is situated on the shore of Seurasaarenselkä bay in the Meilahti district of Helsinki. The villa was originally built as a summer residence for merchant Fridolf Hisinger in 1873. The Finnish state acquired the property in 1919 and designated it as the official residence for the Prime Minister.

The building's architecture is characterized by its late Neoclassical style. Over the years, Kesäranta has undergone several renovations and expansions to better suit its official functions. The premises include the main villa, which houses the Prime Minister's office and reception rooms, as well as other buildings that provide accommodation and support services.

Kesäranta is used for a variety of official purposes, including meetings with foreign dignitaries, press conferences, and national celebrations. It is considered a significant symbol of the Finnish government and plays an important role in Finland's political life. Access to the grounds is generally restricted, and security measures are in place to protect the Prime Minister and other occupants. The name "Kesäranta" is sometimes used metaphorically to refer to the Finnish Prime Minister's office and policies.
