Bill Massey (baseball)
William “Bill” Massey (born October 2, 1915, died July 27, 1992) was an American professional baseball pitcher. He played briefly in Major League Baseball for the Philadelphia Athletics in 1945.
Massey's professional career spanned from 1940 to 1949. He played in the minor leagues for teams such as the Reidsville Luckies and the Greenville Spinners before making his major league debut.
Due to the depletion of major league rosters during World War II, Massey was given an opportunity to play for the Athletics. In his single major league season, he appeared in 10 games, pitching a total of 17 innings. He posted a record of 0-1 with an earned run average (ERA) of 5.29.
Following his brief stint in the majors, Massey returned to the minor leagues, where he continued to play until 1949. After his playing career, further details about his life are not readily available.
