Encke (horse)

Encke was a German Thoroughbred racehorse known for his upset victory in the 2013 Deutsches Derby. Bred in Germany, he was owned by Gestüt Röttgen and trained by Waldemar Hickst.

Encke's career was marked by inconsistent performances prior to his Derby win. While showing promise in some races, he often failed to live up to expectations. His victory in the Deutsches Derby, however, was a significant achievement, defeating a highly regarded field and establishing his place in German racing history.

Following his Derby win, Encke continued to race, but he did not achieve the same level of success. He was eventually retired from racing and stood as a stallion.
