Congregation Beth Israel (San Diego)

Congregation Beth Israel is a Reform Jewish synagogue located in San Diego, California. It is one of the oldest and largest Reform congregations in Southern California. Founded in 1861, the congregation has a long history of serving the Jewish community in San Diego through religious services, education programs, social action initiatives, and community outreach.

The synagogue's current building, located in the Golden Triangle area of San Diego, includes a sanctuary, chapel, social hall, classrooms, library, and administrative offices. Rabbi Emeritus Martin S. Lawson served the congregation for many years. The current Rabbinic team includes Senior Rabbi Jason Nevarez.

Congregation Beth Israel is known for its active engagement in social justice issues, including advocacy for interfaith dialogue, environmental sustainability, and support for vulnerable populations.
