Rho Ceti
Rho Ceti (ρ Ceti, ρ Cet) is a binary star system located approximately 64 light-years away in the constellation Cetus. The primary star, Rho Ceti A, is a yellow-white main sequence star of spectral type F2V. It is slightly larger and more luminous than the Sun.
Rho Ceti B is a fainter companion star that orbits Rho Ceti A. Its spectral type is estimated to be around K5V, indicating an orange dwarf. The orbital parameters of the binary system are not precisely known, making an accurate determination of the companion's characteristics difficult.
The system is notable for being a relatively nearby and solar-like star system, making it of interest to astronomers searching for potentially habitable planets. While no planets have yet been discovered around Rho Ceti, its proximity and characteristics make it a continuing target for planet-hunting efforts.
