Alex Bruce (footballer, born 1984)
Alex Bruce (born 28 September 1984) is a former professional footballer who played primarily as a defender.
Bruce's career spanned multiple clubs in England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Ireland. He is the son of former Manchester United captain and manager Steve Bruce.
Bruce began his professional career at Blackburn Rovers, but spent the majority of his early career on loan at various clubs including Oldham Athletic, Sheffield Wednesday, and Tranmere Rovers.
He later joined Birmingham City in 2006 and subsequently moved to Ipswich Town in 2010, where he spent two seasons. After a brief loan spell at Leicester City, he signed for Hull City in 2012. He was a member of the Hull City squad that reached the FA Cup final in 2014.
Following his time at Hull City, Bruce played for several other clubs including Bury, Wigan Athletic, Kilmarnock, Sheffield Wednesday (again), Macclesfield Town, Larne, and finally Warrington Rylands 1906, before retiring from professional football.
Bruce also represented the Republic of Ireland at international level, earning two senior caps.
