Pete Goss
Pete Goss MBE is a British yachtsman and innovator, best known for his single-handed sailing achievements, particularly his rescue of fellow competitor Raphael Dinelli during the 1996 Vendée Globe race. This act of seamanship earned him widespread recognition and numerous awards.
Goss served in the Royal Marines before embarking on his sailing career. He initially gained prominence through his participation in the BOC Challenge around the world single-handed race. He is also known for pioneering the construction of a modern replica of a Cornish lugger, the Spirit of Mystery, which he sailed with his family from Cornwall to Australia.
Beyond racing, Goss has been involved in developing innovative sailing technologies and designs. His contributions to sailing have made him a respected figure within the global maritime community.
