Payyal

Payyal (பாயல்) is a Tamil word primarily referring to a bed or bedding. It can also refer more generally to a sleeping place. Traditionally, a "payyal" would be a simple mat made of woven materials like palm leaves or straw, used for sleeping on the floor. The term can also encompass more modern types of beds, although specific words like "katil" (கட்டில்) are more commonly used for framed beds.
