Parmenas

Parmenas is a Greek name of likely Aramaic origin. It appears in the New Testament of the Bible as one of the seven men chosen to serve the Hellenist widows in the early Christian community in Jerusalem. These men, often considered the first deacons, were selected to ensure equitable distribution of resources and alleviate the burden on the apostles, allowing them to focus on prayer and preaching. Parmenas is mentioned in Acts 6:5. Beyond this single biblical reference, little else is known about Parmenas's life or subsequent activities. He is venerated as a saint in various Christian traditions.
