USS Owl (AM-2)

The USS Owl (AM-2) was an Lapwing-class minesweeper of the United States Navy. Commissioned in 1918, she served during World War I and continued her service in the interwar years. Her primary role was minesweeping, ensuring the safety of waterways for naval and commercial vessels. The Owl operated along the Atlantic coast and participated in various fleet exercises and training operations. She was decommissioned in 1945 following the end of World War II and subsequently sold. Lapwing-class minesweepers were designed to clear minefields and maintain safe sea lanes.
