Painted Post (film)

Painted Post is a 1928 American silent Western film directed by Eugene Forde and starring Tom Mix, Natalie Joyce, and Philo McCullough. The film is based on the story "The Passing of Peaceful Pete" by B.M. Bower.

The plot revolves around Tom Hunter (Tom Mix), a wandering cowboy who stumbles upon a ranch threatened by a villainous land grabber, Dave Harmon (Philo McCullough). Hunter, using his skills and wit, helps the ranch owners, the Allisons, protect their land and falls in love with their daughter, Nan Allison (Natalie Joyce). The film features typical Western action sequences including chases, gunfights, and horseback riding. Despite being a relatively minor film in Mix's extensive filmography, Painted Post represents a fairly standard example of the popular Western genre of the silent era. The film is considered lost; no known copies are known to exist.
