Pahnai
Pahnai is an Austronesian language spoken by a small community on the island of Manus, which is part of Papua New Guinea. It is one of several closely related languages in the Manus Province. Linguistically, Pahnai is characterized by its agglutinative morphology and a relatively simple phonological inventory. While the exact number of speakers is difficult to ascertain due to the size and remoteness of the community, it is generally considered to be a language with a relatively small number of active speakers, making it potentially vulnerable to language shift. Efforts to document and revitalize the language are ongoing, often involving collaboration between local community members and linguists. These efforts aim to preserve the linguistic and cultural heritage associated with Pahnai.
